There will be a rehearsal for Chinese New Year celebration tomorrow at the hall.

The rehearsal will starts at 2.30pm.

On Friday, 20 January, is the actual event.

Your are suppose to report in RED SHIRT & SCHOOL BOTTOM.

& change into RED SHIRT & CLUB JEANS afterwards.

You are also suppose to leave you class at 9.30 as there will be a rehearsal at 10.

Produce 90-second short films or machinima in 9 hours to promote social messages under quality mentorship. Put your new media skills into good use by promoting social messages through podcasts, digital photography and digital graphic designs.

4) Innova Film Festival @ Cathay Cineleisure*:
As part of the New Media Academy, you will get to immerse in the theme "Take Action!" which features thought-provoking and heart-tugging films on social issues. A sharing by a professional local director on producion tips and anecdotes will further inspire the young budding filmmakers amongst you! Innova Film Festival will be held on 14 March, 7pm at Cathay Cineleisure.

Digital Animation Film Contest 2012 organised by the CCS and NYP

The Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS) is kicking off its inaugural Digital Animation Film Contest in Singapore. Organised in collaboration with Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Interactive and Digital Media , the official education partner, this contest aims to raise awareness of competition law in Singapore and generate greater understanding of CCS’ work.

Contestants are challenged to come out with creative stories to tell about the practices and issues related to competition law through digital animation films. The contest opens NOW and closes on 23 March 2012. Contestants can stand a chance to win exciting cash prizes of up to $10,000 and also get an opportunity to showcase their work at various platforms both local ad international, and play a part in advocating the benefits of competition to the public.

There will be a briefing at NYP’s School of Interactive and Digital Media, Block M, LT M-1 (level 3) on Wednesday, 11 Jan 2012 at 1 pm for a briefing by experts from the CCS.

Prizes:

Best Short Film: the winner receives from CCS, a SGD 10,000 cash prize and a Certificate of Participation
First runner up: the winner receives a SGD 5,000 cash prize and a Certificate of Participation
Second runner up: the winner receives a SGD 3,000 cash prize and a Certificate of Participation
Three merit awards: each of the winners receives a SGD 1,000 cash prize and a Certificate of Participation

Singapore Young Photographer Award 2012

Dear Club Members,

Once again, the bi-annual Singapore Young Photographer Award is open for submission. This year, the organising committee is not only giving away attractive cash prizes but also a Project Internship to work with professional photographers. Details of the competition can be found on www.sypa.org.sg.

Like the 2010 competition, we are organising a workshop to give you an opportunity to learn from past winners and/or professional photographers. We cordially invite you to join the FREE workshop on 18 Feb 12 at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The workshop will comprise of two parts, a Techniques Sharing session by professional photographers and an Experiential Learning session where students get to submit shoots for critique by the speakers. We believe you will truly benefit from this hands-on learning experience.

Details of the workshop as follows:

Date/Time: Saturday 18 February 2012, 8:30am to 1:30pm. Refreshments will be provided.

Venue: Function Hall at Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Club chalet 2011

Hi club, these are the details for the chalet (7DEC-9DEC). The chalet would be at Yacht Club Bungalow, Aloha Changi. We will be meeting at Pasir Ris MRT at 3:45pm on 7 December. Don't be late as we'll be taking a shuttle bus there! Do have your lunch before coming! For those who haven't pay, you can pay us on the day itself. :D We would be providing only 2 meals. So bring more money for the rest of the meals. (Around 30 bucks for activities too) BBQ would be on the second night. If you got FA, we will subsidize some on that day itself so you'll just have to inform us.

Things you have to bring:

At least 3 sets of clothes + under garments.

Toiletries - Shampoo, shower foam, toothbrush, toothpaste etc etc etc.

Towel

At least 3 plastic bags! For your dirty clothes etc.

Socks for night cycling and bowling in case we're going.

One pair of slippers

One pair of covered shoes

Your own medication ( if you need any )

Phone charger

Bring your electronic devices at your own risk as we won't be responsible for any loss of things. Take care of your own stuff!!

There are 2 workshops being held during the November and December holidays and if you are interested in any of these 2 workshops or want any details of these workshops, please contact me ASAP.

Workshop 1 - Exposing Computer and Mobile Forensics
Participants should have a fundamental understanding and knowledge of the process of computer and mobile forensics. Participants will also try out some forensics tools and work on simple exercises to discover hidden information and evidence.

Workshop 2 - Games Development workshop (CoronaSDK)
Participants will learn to develop 2D games using CoronaSDK software. CoronaSDK is a great software used to rapidly develop mobile games for iOS and Android devices.

Heart of the School Competition
Sadly to say, our school did not win the competition. However, there is a exhibition for the winning entries:

National StrITwise Challenge
This is a new competition coming up in November. Those interested in joining this competition, please form your groups of maximum 6 people and sms me the names of your group members.

The StrITwise Challenge requires participating teams to demonstrate their knowledge and strategic skills in three areas, namely:
1. StrITd∑sign - design a ICT mascot and create a short title sequence featuring the character designed.
2. StrITcombat - simple programming to create a virtual robot to battle online.
3. StrITbiz - a business game aims to apply business strategic model to a real-life business case.

Hey club, [HERE] are some photoshop brushes that you all might want to try out! Do feel free to download more brushes on the internet. Just google Free Photoshop Brushes if you all want more brushes but if you want to, you can download the brushes provided.

Brushes are pretty useful if you want to do certain things such as lightning etc, you can always find lightning brushes. Do try to experiment with photoshop on your own!

National Infocomm Club Awards (NICA)

Hi Club,

This year, we will be joining NICA once again and the theme is "Cyber Security and Wellness". Our Club will be working on an iOS app that is actually an eBook but has multiple endings that users can choose as they move along the story and choose how the characters in the stories react. We will need those who do not have any competitions at the moment to start writing short stories that have multiple checkpoints and endings so that we can choose the best entries to be used in our app. Please submit your completed stories by next Wednesday for checking.

SINGAPORE GAMES CREATION COMPETITION (SGCC)

Singapore Games Creation Competition (SGCC) gives secondary school students an opportunity to learn about digital media development and games creation. It challenges them to create their very own games.

The objective of SGCC is to:

Provide an environment for school students to learn games creation through workshops on games development and digital creation tools.
Give the participants an overview of the digital media industry.
Give aspiring game developers an opportunity to share and showcase their games.

SGCC consists of 2 stages. Teams may attend a 2-day workshop in Stage 1, and be challenged to create a game. The top 20 teams will then move on to Stage 2, be challenged to create in a focused 5-day workshop, and only the best teams will walk away with our top prizes!

SGCC 2011 is organised by Nanyang Polytechnic's School of Interactive & Digital Media (SIDM) and is supported by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) as part of its annual National Infocomm Competition, as well as the Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA). FOR MORE INFORMATION,

Into its 5^th year, the National Infocomm Clubs Awards is awarded by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore to honour the best clubs in Infocomm innovation with the objective of motivating the Infocomm Clubs to strive for excellence in the area of Infocomm, through projects that will benefit the school, society, community or nation. The Awards also provides an avenue for schools to share the best projects, creating a vibrant hub of success stories and learning journeys for all Infocomm Club Schools.

NICA 2011 Theme

This year, the theme for the awards is Cyberwellness & Security. Your students can develop mobile applications, games, interactive websites, flash animation or any dynamic and interactive applications revolving Cyberwellness & Security. Schools can submit more than 1 project for this award.

You can download the slides here for more information on the theme, project entry ideas, award guidelines and judging criteria. All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation. In addition, winners will be featured at various publicity platforms such as the Infocomm Talent Portal and our Facebook page.

The Young Environmental Photographer

The Young Environmental Photographer of the Year promotes the talents of anyone in the world under the age of 21, with two groups, one open to anyone under the age of 16 and the other open to those aged between 16 and 21. Photographers are encouraged to highlight issues important to their generation, explore their place in society or celebrate people, places and animals that they value. Entrants do not need to be studying photography to enter. We actively encourage entries from beginners, so anyone with a camera and an interest in their environment is welcome to enter their photographs.

The competition is completely free to enter and encourages entries that are contemporary, creative, resonant, original and beautiful.

The winning photographs come together to form the most outstanding collection of environmental, social and natural photographs in the world. Individual pieces are judged on impact, creativity, composition, originality and technical abilities. Winners receive cash prizes and all winning entries are displayed in the Environmental Photographer of the Year exhibition, launched in London. Copyright is retained by the photographer.

The competition will run until 31^st July 2011, with judging taking place throughout August and September.

Splash Awards is here again!

Jointly organised by the SCS Student Chapter and IDA, it seeks to encourage the development of innovative heritage-based or inspired mobile applications for platforms such as Android, Blackberry, iOS iPhone/iPad, Symbian and Windows Phone. The challenge is based on one of the two broad topics.

The first topic focuses on mobile applications that function as learning/guiding aids for students and tourists based on the National Heritage Board’s Heritage Trails, National Museums and/or National Monuments.

The second topic focuses on mobile applications that contribute towards making the learning of heritage a more fun and enjoyable experience based on Singapore’s history and/or the Ministry of Education’s history curriculum.

Indeed, this national IT competition provides an invaluable platform to engage students in the various aspects of infocomm technology in a fun and creative way!

CLARIFICATION

Personnel on duty are required to be punctual for their respective duties. Be it morning assembly or Tuesday mass assembly.

-ICs are to report to school for morning assembly latest by 6: 50am. Other members are to report by 7: 00 am.

-ICs for Tuesday mass assembly are to report to the PA room 15mins before the actual assembly. Other members are supposed to report 10mins before.

Personnel on photography or videography duty are to either bring their own equipment or request earlier to borrow equipments from the specific I/Cs.

-Photography and Videography personnel are not required to turn up for morning assembly but are required to turn up 10 mins before the actual mass assembly.

Personnel that are assigned to "Runner duty" are supposed to turn up for the specific days they have been allocated.

-Personnel are required to reach latest to the PA room by 7am

-Runners are supposed to bring the wireless mikes to the podium when the assembly music is played. They will then sit near the podium to assist the teachers when they require help.

-Runners of Tuesday however, are not required to turn up for the mass assembly.

1. A Sport Safe Singapore Creative Competition

Safety should be the cornerstone of each individual’s healthy lifestyle. In order to enjoy a safe and injury-free sporting experience, it is thus important to ensure that Safety is constantly on our minds. Therefore, we seek your participation in our recently launched National initiative – A Sports Safe Singapore Creative Competition. The is in essence a creative design competition that aims to promote Sports Safety to the general public, especially the younger generation. To encourage active participation from the intended audience, various entry formats such as poster design, photography, and short film categories are accepted for the competition. We are also hoping to reach out to all schools (Pri- Tertiary Levels) in Singapore.

2. Faces of Clementi Video Competition‏

The National Library Board has embarked on a heritage initiative at the various branch libraries. We wish to engage the local community to create a sense of pride and belonging among Singaporeans. As such we are collaborating with the South West Community Development Council to organise the Faces of Clementi Video Competition for the schools in Clementi. We hope that the participating students as well as the public who view the submissions will get to know more about the Clementi through the people who live and work there. A team of 3-5 members can participate in this competition. Each school can send in a maximum of 2 teams. The teams have to present a 3 minute video recording of people living or working in Clementi (can be an interview, a montage etc.) at the new Clementi Public Library. The best 3 entries for the video competition will win prizes. The video entries may be exhibited at the Clementi Public Library in future. All teams need to attend a briefing at the Jurong Regional Library in the first week of July so that they understand the project better and get guidance on research, interview questions, story angle, copyright issues etc from librarians. On the first week of August, schools have to present their videos to NLB staff for review. At the end of August, schools have to present the 3 minute video recording at Clementi Library. Please let us know if your school is keen to participate in this competition. We would like to meet the teacher in charge on Wednesday, 27 April 2011, 3pm at the Jurong Regional Library so that we can discuss further. 1. INVITATION TO “twentyfour11” FILM COMPETITION – ACS (Independent)
We cordially invite your Media CCA to participate in a film making and production competition to be held at our school on Friday, the 15th of April 2011.
The Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) Media Productions Team is organizing twentyfour, a filmmaking competition designed to give students a platform for artistic expression and self-exploration through creative film media. This is an excellent opportunity for students to fully utilize their filmmaking skills to produce a short film, challenging their teamwork capabilities and spontaneity within a short period of time.

The students will be tasked to write, shoot and edit their film in twenty-four hours, incorporating a theme that will be revealed to them at the beginning of the competition. At the end of the competition, the top films will be selected by a panel of distinguished judges and screened during an exciting awards ceremony.

The competition will begin in Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) on Friday, the 15th of April at 5pm and last till 5pm the following day. Registration will begin at 3.30pm and the competition briefing will commence at 4pm. Teams start work on their films at 5pm – they may shoot in any location they please, and are expected to provide their own filming and editing equipment (i.e. cameras, tapes and computers). The date of the awards ceremony will be made available at a later date.

**Senior's take on this competition: This is a very interesting competition that I would like to participate, but Mrs Chiang doesn't allow sec 4s to participate. Hence, juniors! I strongly recommend you expose yourself to such a competition that you have to work in the given time constrain with other participants and have a showdown with them! 2. 3DTV competition
This is Wei Fu from Rapture Management and I am here to bring forward the following opportunity for your school and students. This year, MDA is bringing up a 3DTV competition which was officially launched on 3rd of March,2011 by Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts, Lui Tuck Yew, at SCAPE.

The competition invites students from local institutions to submit storyboards based on the theme, “Savvy Surfers”. The top 3 winning storyboards stand to win attractive cash prizes and also an opportunity to produce their storyboards in 3D.

Edited by jiawei: Its a shared document, not a shared acct so u dun nid a password. In ur gmail acct, go > documents on the top left row of options > record of competitions 2010 and 2011 > scroll to the bottom and enter ur post under 2011 not 2010. For those who have entered their 2011 posts under 2010 I have moved it to the 2011 section.

What is it about?
Its a google document where every1 can record down their participation in competitions to facilitate the teachers keying in into the cockpit system. So whenever u join a competition, rmb to record ur entry in this google doc. If its a group participation, pls remind the group leader to record it down. If u or ur leader forgets to key it in, too bad, it will not be reflected in ur cca record at the end of the year and u have to beg the teachers to key it in. SO DONT EVER FORGET TO KEY IN YOUR PARTICIPATION!!!

Just follow the rubrics given (the row saying OFFICIAL TITLE OF COMPETITION, MAIN ORGANISER, CLASS etc) and u shuld be fine. If u dont know any of the information required, pls go and check it out urself.

For 'safety starts with me' competition, add ur name to that particular row(s) (reflecting the category u are joining) in the name column.

Edit 2: www.yousendit.com is a file sending website that sends files up to 100mb. Sign up for a free account there if ur poster is too large to send thru email.
If ur photoshop file (.psd) is beyond 100mb, go to Layers > Flatten Image to reduce the sie of the file.

Final Deadline For everyone except video groups: Thurs 10/3 5pm (not accepting submissions anymore after this, anybody who is late have to mail it the the judges urself)

Video Groups: First club session after March hols

When resending, pls indicate the category u are participating in (poster, essay or photo), and attach all files needed as stated below. ( 3 files for poster, 2 files for photo and essay)

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Pls check this urselves in the event that I left out anything important.

ENTRY FORM: This is where your write up (not more than 100 words) will go. Pls print one for urself and bring on Thurs (10/3). If u are unable to print 1 (due to lack of printer etc), pls tell us thru the tagboard an we will print for u.

Entry form shuld have 1 title and 1 description of the poster/photo/video/essay.

Some of the requirements:
Poster category:
1) CMYK format ( In photoshop, go: Image > Mode > CMYK)
2) Poster size : A3; Resolution : 300 dpi
3) All text have to be converted to paths or created outlines (left click text layer> Rasterize)
4) Files to be handed in softcopy : .psd file, .jpeg file
5) Hardcopy: Printed poster (Ms Nor will be printing for us)
Mounting board (Ms Nor will order for us, price will be confirmed later)
6) All image links have to be included in the CD-ROM in CMYK colours. A text file with the links to the pictures you used should suffice.
Ppl who have submitted previous emails with mistakes pls resend again. Add a CORRECTED in the title.

Creative Photography Category:
1) All submitted photographs MUST BE in 8R (8”x10”) or S8R (8”x12”).
2) Softcopy digital images should be tagged according to your name, followed by your NRIC number and the photograph number. (e.g. LucasGoh_1234567A_01)
3) Photographs submitted must have a minimum resolution of 2000x3000 pixels (jpg or tiff) and photo softcopies must be saved in a CD and accompany the entry form.

Creative Essay Catergory:
1)Stories should be typed neatly on an A4 document, using 12pt font, single-spaced, printed on white paper, single sided. (Again, if printing is and issue, pls tell us in the tagboard)
2)Submissions MUST BE accompanied by the completed entry form (Im so sorry, creative writing does not need a write up)

Video & Short Film
1)Entries must be of duration of at least 1 min, but not more than 3 minutes. Entries more than 3 minutes WILL NOT be considered.
2)ALL entries must be in DVD PAL or AVI format. A minimum resolution of 720 x 576 pixels is required.
3)Video or short-film may be made in English and other languages. ALL non-English videos or short-films must have English subtitles.
4) Entries MUST BE submitted in a DVD-ROM andbaccompanied by a completed entry form.
5) Submitted entries must be playable on PC/Mac DVD-ROM drives or consumer DVD players.

Pls check through the submission guidelines, I shall not repeat this again. If your work is rejected by the judges because you never checked through the submission guidelines, you only have yourself to blame. I stress yet again, this is highly important

Safety - so there must be a danger and a solution

At work - what is the job of your character?

Me Include your character of course.

Proper analysis of the theme should be properly carried out before you think of any ideas as there were many unclear areas in the submitted poster. Pls do this next time to make sure your work fulfills the theme.

Hi guys, this competition deadline is quite near so take note.

Dear All Photography Enthusiasts

In celebration of World Water Day, NYAA Council, in partnership with PUB -
our national water agency and Keep Singapore Beautiful Movement (KSBM), will
be organising a photography competition entitled "Active, Beautiful, Clean
Waters through My Lens."

The objectives of the photography competition are to raise awareness among
Singaporeans about the Active, Beautiful, Clean (ABC) water sites and its
related activities to motivate them to take photos that will help position
these sites as a community asset for leisure and recreation.

The competition will also display powerful and emotive imagery that will
demonstrate the freedom, the joy and the possibilities of enjoying our local
water sites to the public. At the same time, it will also provide a platform
to showcase photographic talents among Singaporeans.

The Photography Competition is divided into three categories and the winners
of each category will receive attractive prizes. The categories are as
follows:

1. Children Category - Age 12 and below
2. Young Adults Category - Age 20 and below
3. Open Category - Age 21 and above

Please send your entries in a CD/DVD to the National Youth Achievement Award
(NYAA) Council, 151 Lorong Chuan, #06-01B, New Tech Park (Lobby A) Singapore
556741 by Friday, 4 March 2011 before 5 pm.

A Prize Presentation Ceremony will be held on Sunday, 20 March 2011 at the
