National Infocomm Clubs Awards (NICA)

-More will be updated in the future- Into its 5 th year, the National Infocomm Clubs Awards is awarded by the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore to honour the best clubs in Infocomm innovation with the objective of motivating the Infocomm Clubs to strive for excellence in the area of Infocomm, through projects that will benefit the school, society, community or nation. The Awards also provides an avenue for schools to share the best projects, creating a vibrant hub of success stories and learning journeys for all Infocomm Club Schools. NICA 2011 Theme This year, the theme for the awards is Cyberwellness & Security . New competition: The Young Environmental Photographer The Young Environmental Photographer of the Year promotes the talents of anyone in the world under the age of 21, with two groups , one open to anyone under the age of 16 and the other open to those aged between 16 and 21 . Photographers are encouraged to highlight issues important to their generation, explore their place in society or celebrate people, places and animals that they value. Entrants do not need to be studying photography to enter. We actively encourage entries from beginners, so anyone with a camera and an interest in their environment is welcome to enter their photographs. The competition is completely free to enter and encourages entries that are contemporary, creative, resonant, original and beautiful. The winning photographs come together to form the most outstanding collection of environmental, social and natural photographs in the world. Splash Awards

Splash Awards is here again! Jointly organised by the SCS Student Chapter and IDA, it seeks to encourage the development of innovative heritage-based or inspired mobile applications for platforms such as Android, Blackberry, iOS iPhone/iPad, Symbian and Windows Phone. The challenge is based on one of the two broad topics. The first topic focuses on mobile applications that function as learning/guiding aids for students and tourists based on the National Heritage Board’s Heritage Trails, National Museums and/or National Monuments. The second topic focuses on mobile applications that contribute towards making the learning of heritage a more fun and enjoyable experience based on Singapore’s history and/or the Ministry of Education’s history curriculum. Indeed, this national IT competition provides an invaluable platform to engage students in the various aspects of infocomm technology in a fun and creative way!
